About Ms. Dallas
Hello! Welcome to General Art at Le Conte Middle School.
My name is Elizabeth Dallas. This is my first year teaching, and I am grateful to have this experience at a school as wonderful and welcoming as Le Conte.
I consider myself a teaching artist, because I love to make art and research ideas in my free time. My favorite mediums are embroidery, quilting and printmaking. Sharing the joy and excitement of creating art with others is my favorite thing to do. I didn’t realize it at the time, but as a child, making art was a safe place for me to process my feelings and cope with things beyond my control. My biggest hope is that students will find a medium in our art class that resonates with them and may serve as a self soothing tool.
Another fact about me is that I am from Ohio and I grew up with my grandparents. I am a first generation college student. I attended Kent State University where I studied Fine Art and later the University of Akron where I studied art education. Going to college was very important to me. Your future and dreams are important to me and I want to help you in any way I can. You can always ask me questions or let me know if you have a special goal you are working towards.
In General Art we will be learning about the Elements of Art - Line, Shape, Texture, Form, Space, Color and Value. We will practice creating, talking and writing about artworks, and we will learn about artists and art history. We will always be practicing our listening and observing skills which will strengthen our empathy for one another and the world around us.
