Hello and welcome to my page!

My name is Mr. Juan Romero, and I've had the privelege of serving the Le Conte Middle School community in a variety of roles for more than 15 years. During my time at Le Conte, I have taught 6th grade history, Science, Math, as well as English Language Development at all proficiency levels.

 

Before returning to Le Conte, I spent five years teaching 3rd, 5th, and 6th grades at Ramona Elementary School, one of our neighboring elementary schools that sends many of its students to Le Conte.

 

Currently, I serve as Le Conte's Targeted Student Population (TSP) Advisor and Categorical Programs Advisor (CPA), overseeing our English Learner and Title 1 Programs.

 

As Le Conte's English Learner (EL) Coordinator, I encourage parents and families to reach out if they have questions about their child's langauge classification, ELPAC results, ELD placement, or progress toward reclassification. 

 

Our teachers and support staff are committed to helping English Learners develop their English Language skills, meet the District's reclassification criteria, and ultimately reclassify as Fluent English Proficient (RFEP). 

 

To meet the requirements for reclassification, English Learners must meet LAUSD's established criteria, which include:

 

Annual English Learner notifications, which include important information about your child's langauge classification and assessment results, are sent home at the beginning of each school year. Please take a moment to review your child's Annual EL Notification carefully.
