Hello everyone!

Welcome to my page! My name is Mr. Juan Romero, and I've had the privelege of working at Le Conte Middle School in a variety of positions for over 15 years. I previously taught 6th grade history, science, math, and ELD at all levels. Before coming back to Le Conte, I spent 5 years teaching 3rd, 5th, and 6th grades at Ramona Elementary School, which sends many of its students to Le Conte. Currently, I serve as Le Conte's EL and Title 1 Coordinator.

As the EL Coordinator, I encourage you to reach out if you'd like more information about your child's Language Classification. Our teaching team is dedicated to helping students meet reclassification goals and successfully exit the EL program.

If your child is an English Learner (EL), please note that to meet the requirements for reclassification, EL students must:
  • Earn a grade of C or better in their English or ELD class
  • Pass the ELPAC with an overall ELPAC 4, and
  • Be at most one grade level below or above in the i-Ready Test.

Annual notices with test scores are sent home in August or September of each school year, so please review those Annual EL letters carefully.  If you'd like more information about your child's results or the reclassification process, feel free to visit me in the counseling office or contact me at (323) 308-1726.

Thank you for your support in helping our students achieve success!
