Assessment: Each unit will have a culminating activity or project, and there will be quizzes given for each chapter or unit. I grade on a point system which is calculated into a traditional percentage system.
88% - 100% A 78% - 87% B 67% - 77%C 55% - 66% D <55% F
Grades are cumulative throughout the semester and will be posted for parents and students to see on Schoology as assignments are graded and recorded.
Students must know their Schoology account login in order to take quizzes and access assignments.

Cooperation marks are based on tardies and on following classroom rules.
Students will receive a “U” after their third tardy per 5 week grading period.  Students who arrive tardy to class will be asked to stay after class, or return at lunch or nutrition to make up the time that they missed. Students are only allowed 1 tardy per 5 week period to maintain an “E”. Violations of class rules, such as eating in class, will lower a student's grade to an ‘S’ after the first offense, but a second offense will result in a “U”.
More severe violations of class rules will be followed up with referrals or unsatisfactory notices.

Using a phone in class FOR ANY REASON is an automatic “U” and the phone will be confiscated and sent to Ms. Linares’s office.

If the computer is being used for anything other than the task that we are working on, the student will first receive a warning, then parents will be notified, and if the behavior continues the student will earn a “U” in cooperation and may lose the privilege of using the computer in class. Having access to technology is a lot of responsibility and it is up to the student to use it wisely and appropriately.

Students are expected to maintain appropriate classroom behavior at all times. This means being respectful to the teacher and their fellow classmates, using appropriate language, and not using class time for activities such as playing computer games, watching videos, combing/brushing hair, putting on make-up, eye lashes, etc. Students may be issued after class or lunch detention for these behaviors.

Work Habits grades are based on effort, work completion, and preparedness.  Throughout the year we will have culminating projects for each unit. The decision to not complete these projects will result in a “U” in work habits for that grading period. Notebooks will be checked often and will be part of the student’s grade, as they will be where students complete written work, as well as being used as a study guide for quizzes, so it is important to take good care of the notebook and bring it to class each day.

Required Materials: Color Pencils Hi-Liters of different colors Spiral/bound notebook Folder/Binder for handouts
I will provide these materials for students.

Homework: There may not be homework on a daily basis. Most homework will consist of finishing work not completed in class or projects. Every afternoon I will be posting the homework on Schoology.

Late work will be accepted but only for half credit, and only up to a week or a reasonable time, depending on the assignment, after the original due date, unless, of course, it is late because of an excused absence or if a student has extended time due to an IEP or 504 Plan.

Contact information: Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. The best way to reach me is by email. I do my best to respond quickly. You can also send me a message through Schoology. Please
