Elective Department - Music

Hello and welcome to Le Conte Middle School Music!

My name is Mr. Hass, I love teaching, and I love music. We offer a few different types of music classes here at Le Conte:

Band
Le Conte boasts an award winning band program, with different classes for beginners, intermediate, and advanced students.  Whether our students are experienced musicians, or interested in learning an instrument for the first time, we have a class for you.

In our band classes, our students learn a wide variety of styles of music- classical, rock, movie soundtracks, Latin, pop songs, holiday songs, and more.  Every year, our Advanced Band students take a special trip to Knott's Berry Farm for an adjudicated performance, where our students have taken home trophies reaching the second highest honor that a band can earn.

We have enough instruments that each student is given their own instrument that is theirs to personally use all school year long, including flutes, piccolo, clarinets, oboes, bassoons, saxophones, trumpets, trombones, baritones, tubas, drums, mallet percussion, bass guitar, and more!.

Guitar
Students in all grades and at all levels of experience can learn to play guitar in our 7th period guitar class.  Students will receive their own acoustic guitar that is theirs to borrow for the school year, and will have opportunities to experience playing electric guitar as well.  This guitar class is tailored to the musical interests of each individual student in the class- students often use this class to learn songs by their favorite artists, learning to play both solo and in small groups.
Mr. Hass’ Behavior Intervention Policy
